Our Knotweed and Root Barriers are purpose made specialist products designed to provide proper protection against roots and rhizomes. They are manufactured from multi layered High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) to provide protection you can rely on. They are also UV stabilised for added durability outdoors.
Knotweed Barrier
Japanese Knotweed has gained notoriety by spreading across the country since it was introduced to Ireland in the 1800’s as a decorative plant. This invasive species is very persistent and almost impossible to eradicate. To make matters worse, the roots and rhizomes have the ability to grow through even concrete and tarmac. It is therefore necessary to protect important structures in infected and high risk location against this menace. Our Knotweed 600 consists of a woven HDPE Base material which is reinforced and coated with a triple layer film of LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene). The Membrane is UV stabilised and suitable for outdoor applications.

Root Barrier
Sometimes it is necessary to control the roots of some trees or shrubs. Our Rootbarrier 400 is specifically designed to resist most common roots. Rootbarrier 400 root barrier consists of a woven HDPE base material which is further reinforced and coated with a triple layer film of LDPE. It is available in green as standard with options of blue, orange and white to order. This Membrane is UV stabilised and suitable for outdoor applications.
Rootbarrier is vailable in 205cm x 200m and 102.5cm x 100m rolls or client specific sized pre -welded panels.

Tree Root Barrier
Greenfix Tree Root Barrier is a 1 or 2mm thick, heavy-duty root barrier which is suitable for any type of plant root and soil. The 2mm thick barrier is also suitable for aggressive rooting species such as bamboo. Alternative thicknesses of the Tree Root Barrier are available upon request.
Tree Root Barrier is 100% recyclable and re-usable and is made from HDPE which is a clean and environmentally friendly material which will not affect the soil unlike products made from PVC. Tree Root Barrier is a cost effective, high quality product which offers a long lifespan to provide the best results.

Tree Root Guiding Panel
Tree Root Guiding Panel (TRG) was designed to prevent root growth from lifting and damaging paving. Its panels feature special guide ribs which redirect tree roots deeper into the soil. The Root Guide can be used within two meters of the tree. Conventional root barriers do not guide roots and therefore offer no stability and limit the growing space. To prevent roots lifting the panels, horizontal ground anchors fix the panels in place. Our panels meet all requirements of root guidance. In addition, the TRG panels are also equipped with double top edge. The rim prevents root growth over the panels and prevents cracking entry of the screens.
